We are at the Headquarters of Texas Stampede
Wrestling. A crowd of reporters is standing outside on this cold day as C.
Joseph Hoffman, TSW CEO and Michael Greenberg, TSW President come out to the
reporters. Stephanie Hoffman, TSW
Special Advisor and wife of the CEO, looks on
Hoffman: Good afternoon. I have called this press conference to
announce that on Monday, January 28, 2002, at 12:01 AM that I will be taking an
extended leave of absence from Texas Stampede Wrestling. I have chosen to enlist into the
United States Army. This
decision was in part in due respect to the events that still surround September
11, 2001. Part of the decision was a realization that my life and that of my
family needed some sense of security…partially financial, partially in response
to needs to develop something that will last as long as my marriage to
Stephanie.
The matters with TSW are this. On
Monday, January 28, 2002, Michael Greenberg here will be named Acting CEO of
Texas Stampede Wrestling until my completion of training expected to be no
later than September 1, 2002. Mr. Greenberg has demonstrated tremendous ability to
serve well as Acting CEO and will keep Texas Stampede Wrestling on its best
available performance. I
have also contacted NWA President Christopher Champion and NWA Vice-President
Samuel Luks to assist Mr. Greenberg in any capacity needed.
In addition, Adam Douglas Wemp,
CEO and President of Limestone City Wrestling, who also serves as Executive
Vice-President will lend out any assistance when possible as well. 2nd Vice-President and
Director of Operations Larry Serson will be named Acting President during this
time frame as well. Scot
Zeltwanger, Director of Media Relations, will assume the role of 2nd
Vice President during the time of my absence.
As you all know, in addition,
Texas Stampede Wrestling was to begin hosting the NWA World Six-Man Tag Team
Title Tournament. That will
proceed as scheduled beginning Wednesday Night, January 9. Also, all shows will
continue on as if I were never leaving.
I think Texas Stampede Wrestling will continue to flourish in my absence.
Now, there is one additional
thing I have not mentioned previously with Mr. Greenberg. Upon my return, if it has been demonstrated
to me that Mr. Greenberg has held Texas Stampede Wrestling in place with
successful results, then it is very possible that I may allow him to be named as
permanent CEO. In turn, I will
proceed to develop with the NWA Fantasy League a new region for the continued
growth of said organization.
I look forward to the challenges
of the United States Army and I strongly believe that Texas Stampede Wrestling
will continue to shine while I face the challenges of active military
duty. Tradition has ruled for many
years within both the Army and the NWA, and will continue to do so in the
future. Good day, and
remember….
TRADITION RULES!
Hoffman leaves with Greenberg and Stephanie
Hoffman beside him as the reporters attempt to ask questions of the trio, but
to no avail. They enter the TSW Headquarters building and the reporters are
left, scrambling to get any questions answered from them.
